After spending the monday developing tools our Tuesday was simply crazy…Visiting “Mercado da Ribeira” for the second time in a week. Meeting in the morning and visit to the fish shop. Visiting the “amadora market”. Meeting in Lisbon to evaluate a possible cooperation with another company. Weekly meeting with Sodomar team…redefining new tools…Ufff…
To create change or a new pattern of behavior the human brain needs 21 days of “repetition”. We are planning very carefully the next 21 days – ok, let’s say another month – to try to create some new and “smiley” patterns of work in the team. We are creating checklists of challenges and goals that have to be presented by everyone on a daily basis, sharing achievements for inspiration, defining tasks and interactions…the progress principle. Step by step we are going somewhere.
This is also a rule that applies to us. We have to keep things moving. Be aware, be there everyday making the right questions and following all the procedures while implementing these changes. Everyday we have to develop a new tool, make that important phone call, set up that decisive meeting or simply keep our yes open to new opportunities.
Exactly 30 days after we’ve started this journey we traveled to Ericeira for the big day where we had the all team of Sodomar together for the presentation. About 90 minutes presenting the results of our research. Talking about the problems we’ve identified, presenting ideas and establishing goals for the future. We managed to get everyone’s attention during the all time and at the end we had a good discussion round and a delicious lunch which is something that we consider extremely valuable. We want to see this happening more times in the future. We know that in the end…this is just the beginning.
The day started with a meeting at MARL. We’ve met an shared impressions with the company’s accountant. It was another opportunity to get new input and feedback regarding how the company is being managed and the overall performances of the human resources. Slowly we are introducing change just by putting people talking and presenting internal solutions. The main word in the last days has been “dialogue”. One thing is for sure, everyone is willing give their best. Everybody’s see potential.
